Title: E-Books in Flash

E-Books in Flash

Are your students required to build an Eportfolio or eBook for their ICT coursework or computer project? Their portfolios can be produced using a variety of software. Many of my students like to use Flash for their Eportfolio as I use it to teach ICT skills that they need later to produce their multimedia product or animation coursework. Whether it is for GCSE ICT coursework or AS / A2 ICT projects these flash tutorials allow them to learn flash quickly whether they are required to produce a web design in flash or are looking at how to build a website. These flash tutorials teach actionscript techniques and include flash tricks that the student can use in their ICT school project.

By producing an eBook in Flash it teaches them some of the skills required when they are using Flash to produce multimedia products.

  • It is also easier to manage the file management as all you have is one .swf file and its associated files such as movie clips.
  • A good eBook done in flash really does set them up nicely for more advanced work with Flash.

The videos start with a range of skills and ideas based tutorials. These are followed by 15 videos that walk the student through the whole process.

  • We have had many reports from teachers of students sitting with headphones on watching a video and then doing the same thing with their eBook.
  • Yr 12 studnts have used this and then been much more confident to tackle their multimedia project in Yr13 without as much help.
  • Even GCSE students have used the videos and booklet to start them off with Flash multimedia projects.
  • EFL students find this an invaluable aid as they can watch and learn in their own time.
